Adopting Baby G

Organized by Corinne Gammichia

Send me to my son
Over one year ago, I started the process of adopting my baby from Ethiopia. I was granted approval and assigned to this little baby boy who had been abandoned by his birth parents and found by the local community. I recieved his first photos when he was one month old. He was absolutely beautiful, but he was severely malnourished. Over the next 6 months i watched him grow through photos that came within a network of other adopting parents.
This past October I journeyed to Ethiopia for the month. I went there to not only meet my baby, but also for the court arrangements to legally adopt him in Ethiopia. Upon arrival, I found that my world and my journey had taken a turn. He was 8 months old and could barely hold his head up. It had seemed strange to me that every photo i had seen of him, he was on his back but until i was there i couldn't know that he had never had the opportunity to sit up or to be outside in the daylight. And also never consumed anything that was not in a bottle. I instantly realized that my baby needs me with him. The following three weeks i spent with him brought this child to life and i learned that being his mom was exactly who i was meant to be.
As of this year, the process of adopting in Ethiopia has gone from a one-week visit to 2 visits with an undetermined gap between both trips. I need your help to go and live in Ethiopia so we can start our life together. He lives at an orphanage where i am able to work with orphans of all ages and i found that i am really good at it. The stay is said to last 3-6 months. i am attempting to pull together the minimal funding to be there for 3 months. In the next post you can read the breakdown of expenses.
Please read about our journey and all the wonderful people in Ethiopia that we spend this time with at www.wheels-up.tumblr.com . I will be posting regularly once i am back in Ethiopia.
THANK YOU to all who are and will be a part of this. It is so hard to find the words to describe what your willingness to help feels like. I can't wait for the day that both of us can thank you together.
